You find yourself in contention in the 2020 Players Championship. You set up to the sixteenth tee one shot behind the leader. The fsixteenth hole is a par five that is very getable if you hit the right shots. Your caddy (Jim) suggests you hit a 3 wood off the tee which will force you to play another 3 wood into the green. If you hit driver you will have a shorter shot but then the bunker is reachable. Do you wish to hit a [[3wood]] or a [[driver]]?You hit a perfect cut fade landing your tee shot 224 yards from the pin and in the ideal spot to give you a great line into the green. Once you reach your ball you start to discuss your next shot with Jim. He tells you that the safe shot would be to hit a wedge to layup to about 104 that would leave you with a full wedge into the hole that should make for a stress free birdie. He also explains the risky route where you hit a four iron and play for the green which could allow you to make an eagle. The danger to this shot is the water that goes completely up the right side. Are you hitting a [[wedge]] or the [[4iron]].You pushed your drive a bit and now find yourself in the sand. You have a perfect lie which still could allow you to play for the green. If you decide to hit a 5 iron the water on the right side of the hole could come into play. Whereas if you play a layup to about 104 yards you would position yourself perfectly for a birdie. Do you wish to hit a[[wedge]] or hit a [[5iron]].after a perfect layup you have the shot youve wanted. you hit your wedge and the ball positions itself 8 feet below the hole. You high five Jim who hands you your putter and you head to the [[green]]Your second shot is flying straight toward the water and your heart sinks. You watch helplessly as the ball rolls closer and closer to the hazard. To your relief it stops about a foot away from the ledge. You hand your club to Jim who gives you your wedge and you head to your [[chip]] shot.You put a bad swing on the ball and slice it straight into the water. You can now either drop another ball into the sand and hit the same shot again. Or you can play line of entry and head 90 yards up the hole and play a 134 yard shot from the fairway. Do you wish to hit the [[sameshot]] or the [[134yard]] shot?You walk up to your putt and you and Jim figure the perfect read you putt the ball on your line perfectly. The balls rolls until it falls into the hole for birdie. Congratulations you are now tied for the lead. Head to [[17tee]].You have green to work with so now you have to choose between 2 different types of chip shots. Your first option is to bump and run the ball which would make it roll most of the way. Or you can use the bounce and carry the ball to the hole then spin it back. [[Bumpandrun]] or [[usethebounce]]You are much more concentrated this time and hit your shot 30 feet from the hole and on the green. Jim hands you your putter and you head off to the [[puttingsurface]].You hit an unbelievable shot and nearly hole out for birdie. The ball stops about six inches from the hole as the crowd roars. Jim gives you your putter and you go to tap in your [[par]] putt.When you get to your putt you know if you make your putt you can save par. However if you hit your putt to hard its going to roll way past the hole. If you hit a lag putt you most likely wont make par but the worst youll get is a bogey. Do you [[lagputt]] or try to make [[apar]].Still 1 shot behid you head to the [[nexttee]].You land your ball about 2 feet infront of where you wanted too and the ball rolled about five feet from the hole so now you have a [[fivefooter]] for birdie.You did exactly as Jim told you and carried the ball to about six feet below the hole. It takes a huge first bounce to about a foot behind the hole and spins back perfectly until it drops into the hole. You have made an eagle 3 on the par five putting yourself into the lead all alone. you give your putter to jim and walk to 17 [[tee]].You read your putt to have a little bit of left to right break and have to decide whether to hit your putt firm and take the break out or play the break and hit your putt softer so the ball curves into the hole. how do you hit your putt [[firm]] or [[soft]].You're now tied for the lead with 2 holes left to play. You will have to make at least one more birdie to win. If you hit your tee shot at the flagstick your chances for birdie go way up as long as you find the green. If your off even a little bit you could hit your ball into the hazard. Your other option is to just put the ball on the green and play for either a long putt birdie or hope to get birdie on 18. Do you want to hit your tee shot at the [[flagstick]] or play for a [[longputt]] birdie.Your put although hit firm breaks about an inch and a half and does a 360 degree lip out. Disappointed you tap in your par putt and head to the [[nexttee]] still one shot back.You play the break perfectly and watch your ball roll into the cup just like you planned. You just made a birdie putting yourself into a tie for the lead. Head to [[17tee]].Standing on the par 3 17th you have yet another decision to make. You are still 1 shot behind and could make a birdie if you play the slope however if you mishit it you could end up in the water. You can also play safe hit the center of the green and most likely take the water out of play. Do you play for a [[birdie]] or hit the [[center]] of the green.After a remarkable 3rd shot on 16 you now find yourself as the solo leader of the tounament. You can try to increase your lead and hit a shot at the [[flag]] or hit your ball towards the [[middle]] of the green and try to make par.You hit your putt slightly harder than you wanted to but its on the perfect line. As you keep watching the ball rolls closer and closer to the hole until it disappears. You made a remarkable putt to save par to a thunderous roar from the crowd. Still one shot behind you head to the [[nexttee]]You did exactly what you didnt want to and blew your par putt six feet past the hole and have a stressful bogey putt coming back. Luckily Jim is the best caddy in the game and gives you the perfect read. You putt the ball on this line and make bogey. Now two shots back with two holes to play you head to [].You're about to play the par 3 17th the island green and the yardage jim gets is in between clubs. You can play aggressive and try to get your tee shot close to the hole and get the shot back from the last hole. Or you can play for the center of the green and try to make a longer putt.
[[aggressive]] or [[conservative]]You overswing and give the ball too much power. The ball sails over the flag and into the water. You can either drop a ball in the [[DZ]] or [[replay]] your last shot from the tee.You hit the center of the green and catch the slope that funnels toward the hole. When the ball finally stops you have a downhill birdie putt of about five feet. You get the read from jim and knock it center cup. You made birdie and are now [[needingbirdie]] on 18 to tie for the lead.You hit your tee shot softer than you wanted to. You pray it doesnt go into the water. It bounces off the wood frame around the green then hits the flagstick and stops about a foot from the hole. You tap in for birdie and wall to 18 [[tied]] for the lead.You hit the center of the green just like you planned. You got Jims expert advice and played the putt exactly as you should. You roll up to about 2 feet and tap in for par you now walk to 18 [[needingbirdie]] to tie for the lead.You slightly mishit your tee shot but luckily the ball stops about 4 inches from falling into the water. You make your way to the green and dont have much trouble making par. Now with only one hole to play you need a birdie on 18 to win the tournament in [[regulation]].You play the hole about as good as you can without being aggressive and you fade your ball to the center of the green. You hit it to the perfect spot so the slope feeds it down to the hole. It finally stops rolling about 5 feet short of the hole. You head to the green with a great chance to take the [[lead]].You over cut your tee shot and it flies out toward the middle f the lake and lands with a splash. You have two choices play the same shot you just hit or drop in the drop zone. what do you want to do [[rehit]] [[dropzone]]You hit your shot perfectly and place the ball in the center of the green you are faced with a challenging downhill putt but Jim is a genius and gives you the perfect read again. Your lag putt rolls to about 1 foot from the hole as you casually step up and tap in for par. You head to 18 [[leading]] by 1.You overcompensated this time and find your ball on the far left side of the green and have a near impossible putt. You 3 putt and make a double bogey. Dejected you head to 18 [[needingbirdie]] to tie for the lead.Jim tells you exactly where to land the ball and you place it there perfectly. The ball rolls to about two feet and you make your bogey putt. You and jim make your way to 18 [[tied]] for the lead.You have a one shot lead with one hole to play. You play an iron off the tee to make sure you dont hit into the water. On your approach you can play [[Aggressive]] and try to put it close. Or just get it [[on]] and try to make par to win.You have to make birdie to force a playoff. Do you want to play a risky driver that if you find the fairway will have a much easier time making birdie. If you play a four iron off the tee you are guaranteed to find the fairway but will have a longer second shot into the green. [[Driver]] [[4 iron]]You are currently tied for the lead and have to make at worst a par on 18. If you make a birdie you win but if you make a par you have to go to a playoff. Do you play risky and hit a driver and hope to miss the water and set yourself up for [[Birdie]]. Or play the long game and take an iron off the tee and try to hit a good [[approach]].You play a 3 wood off the tee and land your second shot on the green 20 feet from the hole. You think you have a perfect rean but Jim thinks its going to do something else. do you play [[your]] read or [[Jims]].Jim tells you that you can either hit the putt firm and play it straight but if you miss youll have a farther par putt than your birdie putt was. Or you can play the break and just let the ball funnell in so if you miss youll have a tap in par. [[break]] [[straight]]Your putt looks good all the way but it dies about 3 inches short and you tap in your par. You walk to 18 still [[tied]] for the lead.You hit your putt straight at the center of the hole and it doesnt move. It hits the back up the cup and falls giving you a birdie you now find yourself [[leading]] the tournament. You find the green but have a 30 footer for par. You hit almost the perfect putt as the ball stops inches from the hole. You tap in for double and now find yourself 3 back and not much chance of winning. []Jim gives you a great yardage and you put the ball 2 and a half feet from the hole. You make bogey and now need an [[eagle]] on 18.You crush your drive right into the midle of the fairway. You have a chance to hole out for eagle but need to pick the style of shot you want to play. You can carry the ball past the hole and spin it back. Or land the ball short and have it roll to the holl. [[spin]] or [[roll]].You place your drive in the center of the fairway and have a wedge into the green. Your approach shot lands 4 feet from the hole. You make birdie but finish in solo 4th []You carry the ball 5 yards past the hole just like jim instructed. It rips back just as you planned it to until it disappears into the hole. The crowd erupts as you are now tied for the lead and have to go into playoff holes to decide a winner. [[playoff]]You hit your landing spot and watch as the ball rolls closer to the hole it looks like its about to drop but stops just short of the hole. You walk up and make your birdie putt. [[Tied for Second]]You've played well to this point but stabd on the 17th tee for the first playoff hole. Do you want to go at the [[Flag]]. Or hit at the [[Center]] of the green.You over hook your tee shot and watch as the ball sails toward the water. You get a lucky bounce and and your ball stays dry. However you cant get a righty swing on it because its only a foot away from the edge. You take an unplayable and make a par. [[Tied for Second]]You land your ball in the center of the faiway as planned and hit your second to about 18 feet. You walk up to 18 green with a must make putt. You are confident about your read and hit your putt on the line. The ball stops and it looks like its over the hole. You start to walk up when all of a sudden it falls. Your tied for the lead now and headed to a [[playoff]].You hit the putt perfectly on your line but are stunned when the ball rolls past the hole on the low side. you make par and now go into a [[playoff]]. Should've listened to Jim.You play more break than you think you have to but trust jims line. You hit the putt exactly as you planned and the ball catches the hole and falls for birdie. The crowd cheers as you have just won the tournament.
[[Trophy Presentation]].You were careful not to put the ball in the water but over compensated and put in in the trees on the right side of the fairway. You have no choice but to punch out and chip on. You're left with about 5 feet for par to force a playoff. [[readputt]].Your tee shot lands in the center of the fairway and you have an 8 iron into the green. You ball lands just short and rolls to about 10 feet. You and Jim are trying to get a read on the putt. You have to choose whether to lag it close and go to a [[Playoff]]. Or try to [[win]] it right here.You over draw your approach and it finds the water. Your now hitting four from just off the green. If you make this chip you win but you cant make a 6 because then youll lose. [[go for it]] [[take a 5]]You hit you approach to about 20 feet and lag that to 2 feet. You tap in your par putt and win by 1 shot. [[Trophy Presentation]] .
You look over your putt and notice it moves slightly to your right. You can hit it right at the [[hole]] and play it firm or play the break and hit it [[softer]].You play a great putt and just knock it in on the right side of the hole. The crowd cheers and you make your way to the [[Trophy Presentation]] Your shot was reminiscent of Rickie Fowlers and you stick the shot to about 2 feet from the hole you tap in for birdie and watch as your opponents putt stops inches from the hole. You won the playoff head to [[Trophy Presentation]].You hit the center of the green and have a thirty foot putt left. Jim gives you two options you can play the [[Break]] in the putt or hit it [[Firm]].Congratulations you won the Players Championship. Play againYou let your playing partner putt first and they make par so now your faced with a putt to win. You trust the shot you and jim planned and hit the putt exactly as planned. It breaks and rolls until it drops. The crowd roars and you head to the [[Trophy Presentation]]You got a little overzealous and knocked the putt 6 feet past the hole. You pushed your comeback putt slightly and missed on the right side. You finished in [[solo second]]. You were as close as you could be to winning getting solo second. You make it and head to the [[playoff]]You chip rolls twelve feet past the hole and you miss the comeback putt. You card a 6 and finish in [[solo 3rd]].You chip the ball close and make your five.
